WAAAAY BETTER THAN TURBOTAX

More intuitive vs. Turbotax which demands adherence to their quirky structure and rules. And for some reason TT would quit working for me. This is WAAAY better.
Pros: Easy to prepare

I am a longtime Block user and it seems to get easier to navigate. The few times I had problems and shared them with Block there were fixes and improvements the next season.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

It's good to run on your computer

It inherits the data from previous years and does a good job. There are a few items that aren't clear and obvious but just about 2 or three in this massive software.

Acceptable except for updating issues

The program works as it needs to for entering the data. Some items could be better explained bt the main issue was in doing the federal and state updates. It took me five tries - only after restarting my computer - to finally get it to update before starting the return. To make it more frustrating, after I completed the return and pressed the ok button to e-file, the darn thing would file until another update was completed which also took several tries. Each time I had to re-enter data before the update finally took. I may look to another tax software if this updating bug isn't fixed by next year.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Has a glitch. Needs some work.

(1) It kept asking me for the SSN of a deceased ancestor. There was no such ancestor, nor any such SSN, which I kept saying but to flag wouldn't go away. (2) Many of the terms are not familiar, especially about withdrawals from a Traditional IRA.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Updating didn't work, hidden fees

First, the updating process doesn't work on macOS. I had to manually find the updates on the web site and install them. Secondly, it would be nice to show all additional fees. Even though I purchased "Federal plus State", there is a fee for the state section and a second fee for filing electronically.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use

I have been using H&R Block Tax Software for the past 14+ years. I have seen the tax world get more complex and H&R has helped me through them. I love the ability to just click on a box and have it explained to me. You ask questions to get me to the right area. Thank you.
