Software didn’t mention anything about the irs pin numbers until after the return was rejected for not having the pin. Refiling caused multiple filing charges to hit my cc. I have used this software for @30 yrs. This year’s software is a disgrace!
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

When the tax return is complete, the issues found need to be more simply stated with a recommended fix. Example, when a couple files married separate why dies the other Spouses birthday when filled in cause the return to not be electronically filed.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming

Could not e-file my returns, which is the whole purpose of the product. HRBlock was cheaper than TurboTax, so I used HRBlock for the first time. Going back to TurboTax next year…

I've been using H&R Block for over 13 years and I keep coming back year after year. While part of this is due to the fact that I know it will bring everything over from previous years taxes, I wouldn't keep using it if it were not easy to use. And it is easy to use and keeps getting better. I question everything on my taxes and it is easy to go through the calculations and see how results were achieved. The interview process helps me think of things I might have otherwise not thought of. I used to the use the "shoebox" approach where I just entered documents I have, but I have totally switched to letting the program walk me through all topics (Interview approach).
This year I appreciated that the ability to add a title to my itemized lists was added. This way when I need to open an itemized list, I can quickly identify which one I need. What might appear to be "small changes" can bring great value and show me that H&R Block is not just keeping up with tax changes but is also improving the user experience. The import data function is also very, very helpful and timesaving.
I have had an accountant review my completed tax forms a couple times (which are not real simple) and they have vouched that my taxes are correct.
Of course, I'd always love to pay less, but the value seems appropriate.

The download and update were quick, but using it wasn’t for two reasons.
1) The Income section kept skipping over entering dividends. I would need to go to the summary page for the section then click “Go To” to get the page to open.
2) After editing data in a section, the “Return to” command would take me to random early parts of the section instead of the summary page, and there was no way to get out without stepping through each data-entry page in that section (which had already been completed).

I've used this for nearly 20 years and generally like it. This year was unacceptable. It started by not being able to download the previous year. 30 Minutes on tech help resulted in "wait for the update" as the fix. It din't save the return properly so I had to complete it three times. (I probably saved the return 15 times). Upon completion of the return the second time, when adding the state return software locked up....no more Fed return. Had to start over the third time. Went to e-file...not....known problems. Phone advice...keep trying or paper file. Fortunately on the 5th try it worked. I have a new computer with the latest IOS. This was glitchy, terrible software with matching support. Truly the "Boeing" of the tax prep software world.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I brought your product last year because Turbo got too expensive. Was not disappointed for two years in a row. Didn't have any problems since I had a simple tax form to fill out. Will probably buy it again next year if the price is right.
