I bought the program in Feb. When I went to use it in April, it would not work. Had to buy it again at full price in order to get taxes finished.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I've been using this software for years now and it works. But as my taxes have become more complex, I've found it does not show me enough of what it's doing behind the scenes for topics such as AMT or RMD...had to go to the IRS site for that! Generally good though.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents

I have used H&R Block's tax programs for years. It was always an easy, almost pleasant experience to do my taxes. But the past two years, I noticed they have changed the interviews and made it far more difficult. A simple matter, like where to enter 1099s for a self-employed author is highly confusing, and unless I want to spend considerably more, there is no way to ask simple questions when the instructions are impossible to follow. Because of this, I had to file for an extension. Not because I didn't have the money to pay my taxes, but because what once took me hours is still unfinished after days of frustration and stress. Never again.

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

So I’ve been using H&R’s tax software for over 12 years now ... naybe longer ... one thing bugs me to no end ... that’s the interview forms for my depreciated assets ... the software imports my data ... remembers details like basis in service date method chosen etc ... but insists on making me click 7 times for depreciated assets and 8 times for partially depreciated assets where on each interview panel I never change a value ...
I’m a farmer / rancher that over the last 35 years have accumulated a lot of assets and started a small custom farming business (sched C) By now I have been tracking more than 40 assets ... we don’t do enough business to use something like quicken etc ... so my assets are recorded one by one in H&Rs files
I don’t mind statusing every piece but what don’t we have a check box on every line that basically asks do you still have it (implying nothings changed except for another years gone by) if you check, or uncheck box then pull up the detail interview panels
My “paying” job is in IT as a software developer ... so it’s even more frustrating that the UI process is so tedious and non-value added for assets we still have
Should be a simple improvement and much appreciated
Cons: Time consuming
