I am a long time H & R block user and I always normally file early, Feb or March every year and never have had any issues. I don't mind paying the extra money that this costs for the piece of mind that it gives me....however this year I forgot until the actual tax day deadline to hit submit on my return...and it was a big mistake because the H & R block server issue that happened caused me to lose a half of day of productivity at work, the software status update was saying that it knew there was an issue but for me to keep trying to submit it. After 3 times of clicking submit and getting an authorization hold for the payment on my bank account....I stopped and thought that I would be in trouble with the IRS and was very worried about this. Finally at 7 pm I was cleared to submit the return, thank God! However, the lost productivity and then the authorization holds on my bank account for 5 days for almost 70 dollars...will probably make me think twice about continuing to use this software in the future. I don't like change, so good chance I will forget by next year, but this was very painful and I lost productivity, and there are more reliable and frankly cheaper options that have been recommended to me.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I have used this every year for as long as I can remember. 2023 is very UNUSER friendly. In the end it gives you a number and things that need to be looked at. I went back to all 7 items and I didnt see anything wrong. Then I had to research each item, still nothing! Very irritating! Im done!
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

I have used H&R Block software for a decade, but will no longer. Failure to be able to file online the day before and day of the deadline with no support or updates from the company is unacceptable.

It was very frustrating to find the site had issues the April 15th the day taxes were due. I had to quickly print out my return and get it to the post office. Now it is showing in my bank that they still took my return money. I am hoping IRS notices and does not try to cash my check as well.

Not sure what happened but it took 10 attempts to submit my return - tried on the 14th and 15th. FInally made it around 3pm on the 15th. Was charged each time for the state return. Finally gave up and mailed the state return, hope these charges get dropped.

Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

overall it helps w/ getting through the items easily and quickly, but the software is just generally not easy to navigate; the 'help' buttons hardly ever offer actually useful information. there's no obvious way to download or view the final returns for the current or previous years
