I've used this for years, and am starting to become less satisfied with it. Perhaps due to the ever-increasing complexity of the tax code, or because of insufficient design and engineering resources, or some combination of the two, H&R Block software is not as easy to use nor as bug-free as I have come to expect. I still recommend it, but if it stays on this trajectory, I doubt that will last long.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Straight forward to use. Importing PDFs must be improved. Every document that I imported was missing information in the program. The information like SSN and address was on the pdf. Fortunately, the final review flagged this missing data. A lot more effort must be put into getting to the program's final version so we can submit the online tax report. Every year, I have to wait for the final update, usually in late March, to be able to submit my report, which is not that complicated.
Cons: Hard to import documents

During the last two years (2022 and 2023), the program would not let me complete my tax return until software bugs were fixed and released in a program update. In 2023, the inherited IRA tax computation was wrong even though it worked fine in previous years since 2007. Does H&R Block tax software retrogress and damage previously working code? I needed to wait three weeks for H&R Block to fix this error and release a program update before I could submit my Federal and State returns.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Using HR Block has been uneventful which is good for tax preparation. I take more time preparing my paperwork and documents than using the software. Once I start is seems intuitive and easy to understand.

I wish I could do a K1 and do a 1041 form for my husband’s estate. His estate only has 2 items: dividends and capital gains. I was told I could do this with the deluxe model, but I cannot print a K1 for filing, so that is useless, and I could NOT find 1041 form, tho in a phone call the lady stated that you did have a 1041 form
