Software system is easy to use for both Federal & State tax returns. State returns require some manual intervention to correctly establish taxable income at the state level. The cost of the software is much to high, and charging extra for filing state returns is a burden as well. I may use the free Federal IRS and State options next year.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It Works But State Allocations/Credits Are Not Cle

I did 4 family returns. Most involved multiple stare including NY. NY requires states wages for NY to equal Box 1 wages even though wages are allocable. Getting returns not to over report federal wages in. state returns can be maddening because the sum of the parts (state totals) are more than the sum of the whole (real box 1 wages). HR Block does not make it easy to manually override that fed column total on the form or to just plug an adjust in the UI. Support is close to clueless.
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!
