The program for 2023 tax year was not as user friendly as the programs of prior years: less help, fewer instructions, more trial and error until I finally figured out what to do. Still overall satisfied. Taxes done!

Trustworthy but maybe not comprehensive enough

I have used H&R almost exclusively for the last dozen years or so. Lately, the products seem to be getting stripped down. For example, there used to be videos covering various topics - no more. When it offers to explain how it calculated certain entries, it often just gives generic description of that entry. Also, it makes assumptions that are incorrect (rather than asking for a Yes or a No) and then locks in the wrong answer (such as if we live in a school district that collects income taxes - we don't). It's still a good product, but I don't have the confidence in the results that I once did.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

It’s cheaper than having a tax preparer do our taxes. Some features such as stocks gain/losses calculations made it so much simpler just by downloading from the firm.
