I've used H&R Block deluxe to file my taxes for many years now. This past year I unfortunately waited until Sunday April 14th to submit them. At that time the software gave an error which persisted well into April 15th - Tax deadline day. This caused unwelcomed stress. The error persisted until late in the afternoon and to me this was unacceptable for a tax filing software company.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The SW would be much improved if you showed me the entry that was made for this item last year as I am filling out the data fields for this year.

I have been using H&R Block tax software for approximately 20 years, mostly without a hitch. This year, they let me down. I had a new tax issue this year and the software was not very helpful. As a result, I waited until the Sunday before tax day to file my return. When I tried to efile the return, the H&R Block server was down. These types of thinks happen, but there was no announcement or other information form H&R Block until the following afternoon on tax day. Even then, they just announced that they were working on it. I didn't get confirmation that my state return was filed until shortly before midnight, and confirmation for my federal return did not arrive until after midnight. What a stressful day.

The same errors are not being corrected year over year with this software. There are no questions regarding Estimated Tax payments in the software for either federal or state. You have to search for the forms, then enter them in manually. Also, you have to start the program and enter this information in first or the program won't calculate. There is also 3 3 errors where it asks for information in a form when verfiying and the program will not accept 0 as an answer even when it is zero. Again, these errors have been present year over year and are not being corrected.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
