I have used H&R Block Deluxe tax software for 20 + years for me and my family. Even when I needed the more involved forms it was helpful by asking questions first. The Federal to State Data transfer was seamless and their knowledge of state and Nexus was helpful.
Federal e-file was free for 5 returns, but the state e-file there is a charge.

This won't help you with the first, but it does a good job at the latter. Former TT user and switched in 2022 tax year. The interface is different, but easy to use. The financial forms import needs to expand but I expect it will continue to grow each new tax year. Filing and acknowledgement of acceptance was simple and quick.

I've used this software for many years (I think it was called Tax Cut). Ihave 2 suggestions for HRB. 1) program the software to have a zoom function for seniors and 2) regards QCD's a place to designate who the gifts are to & maybe more than one 501-3C charity, I'd like to see your text & numbers less gray & more black as the screen's contrast is not always effective for viewing on my screen. Thxs.
