Disappointed in how Taxcut encourages people to have to buy yet another product in order to log crypto transactions. The free tier won’t even cover someone who only casually trades and completes rewards on the platforms. And forget it if you have anything that is staked and rewards daily.

I've been buying the program for years and mostly satisfied. The Biggest problem or gripe I have is there is no easy way to find out whether it is best to file married filing jointly or married filing separately.

Does the usual simple stuff easily. One good feature is that it accepts the entry of US Government obligations interest in percentage form (as is usually received from brokerages). Some other software requires you to a dollar amount and enter it. Had trouble importing data from T. Rowe Price directly. Also, the software does not collect the foreign taxes paid entered in Dividends and populate the forms correctly as "RIC"--I had to do that manually.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

ONLY problem is that on 2 of the 4 returns it would NOT properly retrieve the last year's S "income" number. So it wuld NOT efile. I checked and the number it retrieved WAS the right number, si I prented the error message and included that when I mailed those 2 returns in. (I do the taxes for 3 other family members, too.)
