Website was down on Filing Day! Had to file late.

I went to eFile my taxes on April 15 and the website was down. This is unacceptable as it was the next day before I could get all of my paperwork together to file. My postmark was definitely a day late. I may have to pay a penalty, I have not heard back from the IRS yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We received a property tax rebate of $675. in Montana in 2023. I entered it on the Fed form,(not income on Fed, because I did not itemize last year's 1040), so the $675 would eventually be shown on the MT state return, which we file separately on the same form.. After I learned that the rebate was not taxable for state purposes, I removed the $675 from the federal form. Unfortunately, it did not remove it from the MT state form. Half of the rebate was subtracted from the primary taxpayer column, a minus $338,. The spouse column showed a positive $338. The numbers net to zero, but I am taxed at a higher rate, the spouse with the positive $338. Therefore, the net tax result is not zero, making the MT state tax Form for 2023 incorrect. I cannot sign an incorrect tax form. What should I do besides manually fill out the MT tax forms and mail them. Is this a computer program glich?
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
