I have been using H&R Block for quite a few years, and I find it easy to use. I normally don't have any issues with it, but this year I got a letter frome my state's department of revenue saying my state taxes were not paid. This is a bit annoying since I entered my bank account info into software, and there was every indication from the software that the taxes were paid. I also didn't receive a notice that my fed return was approved. I had to go back in and check to see if it was approved, and it had been. In summary, I would say the payment portion of the software did not work very well this year.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been using H&R Block software for years. I used to do all my tax returns by hand, but I find that the software has made tax-time for myself and family members much less of a hassle. Importing data from the previous year is helpful.

The sections on K-1s and Foreign tax credits should be enhanced. Several line items on form K-1 are not fully integrated with the tax software and need to be handled separately. Additionally, foreign tax credits on qualified dividends currently requires manual calculations and adjustments.

Straightforward to download & install. User friendly, simple to use, ease of navigation . Comprehensive set of tax forms to accommodate different tax requirements. Easy print or electronic filing. Explanations for various tax topics & questions. However, more detailed & better explanations are needed for some topics. One reason for buying this software is that it is still available to run on Windows 7 sytrms, which I still use as I suspect many others do too. Kudos to H&R Block for continuing to support this operating system! 😎

Software works fine - tax day outage was horrible

The software to do the taxes is super easy to use. Having an outage on the final tax filing day was a disaster! I had to scramble to print copies of everything and mail my taxes. The envelope with my state taxes was returned to sender, causing me to file late. Not sure what the penalties will be yet. Next year might be the first time in 10 years that I choose software besides H&R.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
