The interview method of data gathering ensures the user gets all appropriate subtractions and deductions, but also reports all income. The gig worker, or 1099-NEC recipient who has a simple business will have enough in this package to complete the return. Being able to download state software without a separate purchase is a convenience, even though it is not free to file.

We have used H&R Block for 5 years. This year my wife and I filed separately. She owed money, I didn’t. We tried repeatedly to e-file on April 15. We spend hours trying and repeated phone calls all were unsuccessful. My wife finally gave up and ran a hard copy and drove it to the post office. The following day after several attempts and phone calls my e-file went through.

The software needs an improvement when printing the tax return. When printing the official return, I want the capability to uncheck the filing instructions and just print the return. I know this can be done by going to selected forms and printing from there but that is a pain to do.

All other times I have used the software there have been no issue for some reason when I used it to file 2023 the software was glitchy and had to do it several times because it gave me some incorrect forms to fill out and carried info over from 2 years previous despite putting and saving new info.. it was very annoying but after checking to ensure I was submitting the right thing it was fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!
