I trust H&R Block software completely. For a reasonable price, it walks you through the process, even downloading investment statements, with ease. The only caveat on the state tax is that, while it does transfer data from federal, it costs an additional fee to file. The state also did not handle a 1099-R with 2 codes correctly.
So, five stars for Federal but 3 for State.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

As always, it's good software, but I had to pay to file/submit the state tax return. So, you're buying the state preparation, not preparation and filing. Next year, I'll buy the basic software, like I always have in the past. State taxes are easy. If the software doesn't allow me to file them for free too, it's not worth the extra money.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
