I've used the HR Block Deluxe software for years, But this may be the last time I buy it. My eyesight is failing and it's not possible to increase the size of the text. I complained about this last year to a support person and am not pleased that you do not make any effort to improve accessibility issues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall happy with the product. I do my elderly mother's taxes and she qualifies for homestead exemption but her not paying property taxes is always flagged. Would be nice if you factored in whether or not a senior qualified for homestead exemption.

I've used H&B Deluxe for years and it has been very easy and thorough. I would like to have an option to enter all W2s, 1099Int. and 1099Rs and 1099B before going through the interview process.

Good value when compared to Turbo Tax. Could do a better job of carrying over info from Federal to State. Only real complaint is no backend reporting to help understand the final tax calculations. You just get a number and hope it is right.
Would be great if a simple tax summary (for Federal only) was available such as $ Ordinary Income = $ tax, $ Dividends = $ tax, $ Capital Gains = $ tax, etc. List Gross Income and list of deductions and credit. That data is all there, just need to organize and provide a summary.

The basics are good, Wages, Social Security, interest, dividends, deductions. I was unimpressed and felt stranded by its lack of ability to handle the sale of an inherited house. There was no guidance on where to enter the information from a Form 1099-S for the sale. There was only limited help in handling the codes for adjustments on a Form 1041 K-1 related to the sale. It was also frustrating to have little help in filling out a 2210 for uneven income related to a potential penalty for underpayment of estimated taxes. I pay HR Block for help and guidance through the tax return; not to in a confusing way tell me to “go open the form, figure it out and then come back to the interview here”. I’ve used HRB software for many years and 2025 was the most frustrating tax season I’ve ever had.
