If they had asked me to review the program as I ran it, I could have given a more specific analysis, so here’s my best recollection.
When I got to the summary page, I had a question about one of the values. After I went back to that section, I had to proceed step-by-step to return to the summary page. Rather than maintaining my original answers, I had to revisit each question. (You tend to zip through the questions since you already answered them.) Last year I made a $160 mistake and had to file an amended state return.
I also had problems inserting my investments, at one point starting the program over since I could not reconcile… I’m not sure what went wrong.
The state program is unreasonably expensive, including the cost of e-filing.
Unfortunately, other software programs I have tried were no better. I would just expect more from the H&R Block tax pros.
