On my 2023 return I messed up my estimated tax payments. I included 4Q2022 on this return because I paid it in January 2023, and this resulted in my return showing my refund $4000 higher than it actually was. Also, I failed to include state estimated tax that should have been included on my 2023 tax return, so the return showed $1000 less than it should have. Both IRS and WV corrected my errors. It would have helped if H&R had a way to show an estimated tax payment for prior year and not included it as a deduction on the current year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
The GA State gave an incorrect income, instead of zero it gave a negative number which caused the state to request a payment
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've used H&R Block software for many years. But this last year two things caused concern. One is being very careful to understand what questions are being asked. Sometimes the heading is the question. Sometimes a heading is simply a heading and the question is under the heading. Also, the software calculated underpayment penalties for both state and federal returns. The state penalty was refunded to me since it appears I did not come close to the penalty threshold. For the federal return, I pursued an option to calculate on an annual, rather than quarterly basis. This wasn't an obvious option.
Since switching from Turbo Tax years ago, preparing my taxes with Tax Cut has been a significant improvement. Besides Being much less expensive, it has been much easier and faster to use.
