I have been using H&R Block tax software for many years, and I found the 2025 version disappointing. I have over 35 years' experience as a tax attorney and CPA and discovered several problems with the tax software, including (1) not carrying over U.S. residency from prior year thereby causing ineligibility for the earned income tax credit, (2) incorrectly calculating net investment income tax, (3) referring to worksheets that do not exist, (4) providing unclear instructions and support for reporting passive losses, and (5) providing no support for investments in qualified opportunity zones.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

I have been using a different tax app for many years. Their price had gone way up, so I decided to try a new program. H&R wasn't easier to use. The program was sure how some 1099 monies should be declared and on which form. Repeatedly came around with same questions about that. Looked back at old tax program and used those as an guide.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
