I have used H&R Block for at least 7 years. It is easy, with good explanations for each item you have to enter.
I use it for Capital Gains calculations as well as retirement income such as Social Security and IRA/Roth accounts. All my information from the year before is imported automatically, saving a lot of typing. Have never had a problem with any tax forms filed electronically with H&R Block software.

Easy to use and fairly priced. There still appears to be an update issue with iMac computers. I had to restart my computer each time before an update would complete. Same problem last year. Another small item on the Alabama tax form was the retirement income section is at the very end of the income interview. Thought it may be more intuitive to have that part near the beginning of the income section.

I’ve been using Tax Cut for 15 years with mostly a good experience but this year I found there was a change in 2023 on the handling of Long Term Capital loss carryover which meant I had to revise and resubmit both IRS and CA returns. And manually enter the carryover for the 2024 returns. Called Help Desk with no feedback.
