Good product - late to market with Form Updates

I have used H&R Block Tax software for at least the last 15 years. I have found it to be intuitive, easy to use, and accurate. However, I am displeased that the product, in recent years, is lagging in timeliness of all updated forms. In the 2023 tax software, Form 8936 Schedule A (Clean Vehicle Credit), was not available until 3/1/2024. In the 2024 Tax Software, the Vehicle Expense Worksheet was not available until 2/14/2025. These form and worksheet delays have taken longer than other tax software providers. For this reason, I give H&R Block a grade of "D" for being LATE TO MARKET with a fully usable tax software package.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Long-time satisfied user. I prepare over 100 tax returns for a CPA and have verified my H&R Block software generated personal return using his professional tax software. Same result. Great price. Much cheaper than Turbotax.

Problems with multiple charges against my credit card for the state return which was due to your programming error when your software rearranged my authorization code and I did not notice so you charged my credit card first before checking the code for accuracy.

Overall the program is very intuitive and leads you through all the steps you need to successfully file. The data that is imported from the prior year's filing makes getting started easier.
You do have to be diligent to read the descriptions of the various categories for income, credits and deductions since the underlying tax law uses terms that may seem like they do not apply.
Pay attention if you have an IRS PIN, it is easy to skip over entering it before filing.

I've been using HR Block for m any years, 2024 was the first year I had to take an RMD. Entry for the rmd was horribly unclear and kept resulting in a $5075 penalty. Going through the process with three different help levels (8hrs) some one was able to resolve it but a simple 1099R was made incredibly complicated unnecessarily complicated and confusing. This needs to be fixed by HR Block
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
