I have been purchasing H&R block software for many years. Until this year I had good experiences. But this year was a disaster. They have replaced the human help agents with AI. It kept giving me this "I cannot help with that. Ask me about..." Since this was when I was trying to find out why the Fed rejected our return for an error and I was asking about the error code, this was highly frustrating. Particularly since the list of things to ask about included error codes. We ended up sending in paper and I have no idea what error is in there.
I generally find filling out forms is pretty good. If you use it multiple years, then they import the data you need from last time.

1) I could not trace one of my income sources as the traceback information was not there. It was an odd field - form 8995A line 28 and the field would not do the "jump to related" function.
2) I could not file my Michigan taxes as the program would not accept my Michigan tax payment done 1/5/2026 as it was outside the calendar year even though the Michigan window for tax payments is through 1/15/2026.
