This is the first time I've used H&R Block instead of TurboTax software. I like the Block program better because of its clear helpful explanations and ease of use. The only negative is that one part of the program wasn't ready, and I had to wait some days before being able to complete my Federal and State returns.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

H&R has done it again. I have been using their software for about ten years now. It is so easy to use. Navigation is easy. If there is a question, the software usually has the answer.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have used H&R Block Tax Software for years and have never had any issues. This year I discovered I forgot an item and had already filed my return. I was thinking that having to do an Amended Return might be a royal pain, but the software guided me through the process. I have never had to do an Amended Return in the past so I was relieved to have the software provide me with good instructions and assistance.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

2024 was the FIRST year in which I had to take RMDs; I turned 73 in 2024. During CALENDAR 2024 I withdrew more than enough from my IRAs to cover my RMDs. These withdrawals were reported on my 1099Rs and I entered all this into HRB, along with the total amount of my RMDs. However, during the final check, I was asked to review some obscure form which, as far as I can tell, related to making overdue RMD withdrawals which are subject to additional tax.
Since 2024 was the FIRST year in which I was required to take RMDs, and I withdrew the full amount of required RMDs for TY 2024 in CALENDAR 2024, I do not understand why HRB thought it necessary for me to deal with a form related to overdue RMDs. I told HRB the amount of my RMDs, and the amount actually withdrawn (per my 1099Rs) from which it should have realized that I had fully satisfied my RMDs in CALENDAR 2024.
The instructions that HRB provided for dealing with this form were unclear to say the least. (And although this is on the IRS and not you, the form itsef has grammatical errors that make it unintelligible.)

I REALLY DON’T LIKE the “evergreen” subscription where I have to call a number and wait on the line to cancel, or continue using by having my credit card billed automatically. On the positive side, I was able to file our returns successfully.
