This was my first use of software for my federal return. It worked smoothly. The multitude of menus on the screen is confusing .. for example, "file" occurs on two menus but with different functions. It's also not transparent regarding important worksheets, for example the Social Security worksheet and Schedule D. But it was clear and saved enormous time. Having said all that, it's frustrating the IRS can't draft my return for my approval, and for free, because they have every bit of the information I used and they're going to process it themselves for accuracy.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

I have used H&R Block Software for 11 years and have never had an issue and would not consider another product. The ease of starting a new return, with the import of last years information is very much appreciated. The cost is more than fair in my opinion.

Almost everything was great; however, the one thing that mattered most to me as a first time RMD taker was terrible. You provided no useful help at all. I had to Google what to report on my Form 1040, which turned out to be simply my 1099-R. Nowhere did you explain how the IRS knows that I met my RMD requirement. Also, I somehow stumbled upon your section dealing with reporting a missed RMD which required accessing a help note at the side -- rather than in the main body of the instructions where it should've been -- explaining I should ignore it since I had until April 1, 2025 to take my first RMD. A complete revamp of the RMD section is desperately needed.
