I have been a user of the H&R Block software for well over a decade. I like that the interview questions are intuitive and that there are quick links to explanations for items I don't understand. The software is easy to navigate with its "go to" links. I'm able to complete my taxes within a day or two. I also use the software to complete taxes for other members of my family so anything that helps me save time/effort is a plus.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have used HR Block or Tax Cut since the 90's and until this year never had an issue understanding the questions in the interview. This year was a completely different story. I have a 401K and a pension plan and this year answering the questions around RMD's was very hard to understand.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

All went well EXCEPT one glaring omission/fault in that Government Agency bond interest is State tax exempt and the program is not at all intuitive on how to handle not being taxed at the State level on these Agency bonds such as FDIC and FFCB, etc.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Poor update of state status

Did it’s job but short of ideal due to the following:
1. Summary does not include California's taxable income (Federal has one).
2. Application does not allow closing a file without exiting the program.
3. The most frustrating for a person with poor eyesight tax filer like me is not being able to read what’s written because of the size of the font. Yes it can be enlarged, but the whole paragraph extends to the right out of the page preventing me to read the complete article. Why can it be like any other applications or web browsers that wrap the text to the line below it.
