I had a new HVAC unit installed that was eligible for $2600 on the Federal side and the software kept indicating an error but would not tell me why or how to correct it so I had to remove it (I can't remember the form - maybe 5815?) - thus losing the $2,600 refund.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

The software works well for everything I needed except for one important flaw, and one important for some filers. The important flaw is that it fails to implement correct planning for estimated tax. At the beginning it states that this part of the software is a work in progress, but this is on 1 April, with very little time left. The very significant problem with the 1040-ES computation is that the interview, and, apparently, the full form do not treat the various strategies for computing the estimated tax. There doesn't seem to be a way to implement the safe harbor strategy (110% of last year's tax), so I ended up doing it with the IRS forms, manually.
The potentially important flaw is that it utterly fails to handle publicly traded partnerships. It seems to put numbers in the correct places, but only if you figure out when they need to go on your own.

Cons: Hard to prepare

Good software but has critical bugs. See review

I am a long time user of tax cut. This year's version has a bug. It does not allow e-filling federal when there are more than 5 Form8938s. Last year it allowed it.
Also the questionnaire does not lead into form 8938 when it should. Why?
Pros: Easy to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
