The explanations are often inadequate. I had a major casualty loss and received no explanation as to why I was only getting a fraction of the standard deduction. I had to consult a tax expert. I may be giving Turbo Tax a chance next year.

The interface feels old. It is. State taxes are overpriced (I've never bought them). Although I've used Block for many years, I will shop around next year.

I have used H&R Block software for many years now. I was a bit surprised this year at the dramatic increase in federal taxes owed. I suspect it may have been related to investment income increases combined with full year social security income, but I don't know for certain. It would be helpful to have a year to year explanation as to why there is a year over year change (increase or decrease) to explain the changes, perhaps using AI.
