I have used this software for over 10 years. Probably closer to 15. This year I had problems with the software that I have not had in the past. Plus my state and and school filings were rejected even though Block said nothing was wrong when I filed. After the rejection, wanted me to fix something that I could not so had to paper file. Up through my 2023 return, I would have given it 5 stars.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Working with HR Block software is so much easier than trying to decipher the IRS often confusing language and forms Have relied on it for a number of years to make doing our taxes less of a hassle.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Product doesn’t upgrade correctly, requires reinstall every time a new update is released by the IRS.
HRBlock part of lobbying consortium preventing simple, free, tax prep.

The Fed Return went well. I took itemized but it did not carry over to the Kansas Return. Did the software give me a choice if so, I did not see it. I had to mail an amended return.

Does an ok job, but just kind of an average product. I am sometimes asked for information that should be pulled from past returns that I have done with your software. Also, the state software also asks me for information that I have already provided for the federal software.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents

It's still ok to do my taxes with, since I've been using it for years, but the Software has a few glitches yet.
Some fairly basic, like switching the State deduction choice from Standard to Itemized when it shows that would be the better choice. Seems obvious, but I had to do that manually.
There are similar items with the Feds, that it seems the data is not being pulled and transferred correctly between locations. The Error check is very annoying, in that it keeps repeating the same request to change something. Think U R spending 2 much on Super Bowl Ads, vs software programmers!
The help line chat was non-existent, but it's probably not fair to try the weekend before due date!
But I stay with you, because you covered me the last time I was audited years ago. Thanks.
