some places it tells you to look at the IRS publications to figure it out which seems to defeat the purpose of using tax software.

I should have been able to file for free, yet I was forced to “upgrade” to deluxe and since I needed to file. It didn’t give me much of a choice.

The HRB works well overall. This was my first-time use of the program, so I did know my way around. I thought I had completed the filing process and nearly missed the deadline. Fortunately, I decided to review and confirm the filings were in-fact processed 3 days before the deadline. Once I did that I received confirmations of the filing and the scheduled e-payments.
