Verified Purchase:Yes
Very helpful for complex calculations. HOWEVER, does not prompt for completion of Foreign Tax Credit even when it's entered during the 1099 interview process. I also had to remember and enter the amount of my loss carryforward from 2023 even though the program had all of last year's data. Those are two big dollar steps that the software should be able to handle!!!
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Federal program is good, CO state program not so.

Federal program worked well as expected and I have used it for many years. However the Colorado State program seemed out of date as I lacked a number of forms that I had to go to the state web site to find. Unless this is changed, I doubt I will buy the state program again.

I have been using H&R Block software since it was Taxcut (20+ years). As I have gotten older, my tax situation has gotten more complex. This year, I needed to file not only our taxes, but also for my late father-in-law. The block software does not handle that situation very well, specifically there are entries, such as the address line, which require special usage per the IRS rules (in this case, Publication 559), that the software will not allow, even as overrides. Thus, I was forced to leave those entries blank, print the return to a pdf, and use Acrobat to edit the result to enter the correct data. This also meant I could not e-file the return, and had to mail it. I would not recommend this software for deceased or estate filings.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
