I would like to have information about other ways to do my taxes when I start the software purchasing process. After I had bought the software, I saw a TV commercial about other options you offer. I wish I had known about them before the purchase because I had complicated tax credit issues this year and needed help.

This year it was slow loading and I had a hard time with filing 2 different states. It wouldn't except my credit card, I had to get the state program loaded again to work. It was really frustrating.

I have been using H&R Block for my personal tax software on my Macbook Air computers for more thanb 10 years - ever since I got fed up with Turbo Tax not updating their MacOS software in parallel with their Windows software. In general I have been very satisified with my experience; however, I may have to submit an amended Fed tax return for 2026. I either missed a question on this year's taxes pertaining to hiring a house cleaner for the first time or the H&R logic path did not lead me to prepare a now suspected requirement to file a 1099-NEC.
Pros: Easy to prepare

I've used H&R Block's software for so long my experience goes all the way back into the "Tax Cut" software days. Each tax season Block's software handles all of the changes in the tax laws without problem and each year the software is easier to use. Doing your taxes can be time consuming and it can cause a lot of consternation due to making important decisions about issues that I really know very little about. I depend on Block's knowledge, experience, thoroughness and professionalism to help me file returns that are readily accepted by the IRS and in my case, the California Franchise Tax Board, and every year they come through. For me it isn't a matter of how much I'm going to get back, as much as how much may I owe. Over time H&R Block's tax software has kept my tax status solid and with no surprises. I cannot recommend using their software highly enough.

Mostly good, but why didn't you remove Merrill?

Still pretty easy to use, but you dropped Merrill Lynch from sites you can pull 1099 data from. You had it in the past few years, so I'd like to see you go back to offering it. Possibly the removal is their fault or perhaps yours. I'll be checking next year before buying this software. If other companies offer it and you don't, I'll switch.
