Your process for filing a federal extension is VERY cumbersome. It was a terrible user experence.

I have used this tax software for a number of years and it has worked very well for me. This year, every time i went back into the program, the amount I owed on state would change. When I dug deeper into the actual state forms, the amount would change back. No idea why this happened numerous times.

Purchased Federal Plus State. To my surprise State filing electronically required an additional purchase almost half of that paid for the entire program. Felt like it was bait and switch. My State refund amount was almost the price of the additional software. Ended up filing the State via print out and mailing via USPS. Buyer beware as this requirement for an additional purchase is not made known until completion of the State forms.
Pros: Easy to import documents

Solid, worth the cash, can be impoved--Linux pleas

Worked pretty well. All the basic Federal stuff solid, except for next years estimated tax with holding sections which didn't import current year data. That was minor. State a little behind Fed; explanations of certain deductions and limitations sometime curt. Not a show stopper, just something to improve upon. It would be great if H&R came out with a Linux version in the future for those of us who are not going to use Windows 11.

I've been using H&R Block software for years. Very easy to step through the process. Once I have my 1099s and W2s and such, I can usually do my taxes during a couple of cups of coffee.
