Works great, but could use some more explanation.

I have been using the H&R Block Deluxe software for a couple of years. The only complaints that I have are that some terms were not explained and "navigating" the software. I had to make some fixes and it seemed like I went to the beginning of the set of questions. Also, printing or saving my return took some time to figure out. The Save As PDF did not work. I had to use the Save As A File in the Print function and some thigs were "off-shifted". I didn't write down the terms that I previously mentioned because taxes gives me a headache even though mine are "simple". Basically, I had a W2 and property tax. I was wondering if I need to answer all the software questions for this. I realize that all of the questions are needed for some people, but couldn't it ask what income I have (from a W2), have any kids, and made 1 or 2 other questions and figure that I get the Standard Deduction like I usually get and go from there.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

I filed electronically and the program apparently sent IRS different numbers than what was on the printed return. This caused great frustration and delay while I tried to verify myself. Apparently the number sent for my refund was less than half of what printed out. A thoroughly crappy program.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are upgrading to Linux operating system and stepping away from Microsoft. Please make H&B software as compatible for the 2025 tax year! It would be a great selling point. I have used H&B for decades......

The software saved me thousands of dollars.

I had to amend my return because I improperly rolled over an inherited 401k balance and had to treat the entire balance as income for the year. HR Block applied a special IRS rule that applies to inherited IRAs/401ks when the person who died was born before January 2, 1936. If I had done my taxes manually, I probably would not have taken advantage of this rule and would have had to pay thousands more in taxes. The software was well worth the money that I paid for it.
