There are some glitches with the software. It works well for the most part. I worry that people who are less experienced than I am will have trouble though.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

I’ve been using the HRB program for several years now. This year I had to do an extension. I of course filed by Apr 15 and paid my calculated taxes due. Finally in early Sep I got my K-1 and did the final filing. I was trying to do a schedule X to amend the previous filing when I finally stumbled across the face that my extension was just that, and I only had to enter the K-1 data and re-file with the completed form. I wish the system was clearer about that — I wasted half a day trying to figure out why the program wouldn’t handle my Schedule X.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

I could not file my California State Return because of a software glitch. Numerous re-attempts imprisoned me in a circular loop that eventually led me to give up and file paper copies. My bankcard was charged numerous times during the process, and I will await your firm backing out the charges.

As a computer tech. of 4 decades I have appreciated HR block's ability to develop software on older OS's such as Win7. Compared to INTUIT they have a far superior programming stack IMHO. Intuit pushes their customer into the next OS... and along with it disrupts small businesses UN-ENDINGLY. I wasn't too happy with HR Block's fairly accellerated abandonment of Win7. Hopefully they don't pull an "Intuit" and force people into Win11 (which I refuse to run, along with Newer Mac OS's). If HR block's projection analysis team is listening... if you were to start offering Linux versions (even if limited), you could ride the wave of exodus from Win11 to Linux. Professionally I HAVE saved 10's of TONS of computers from going to the dump, (Apple are YOU listening?) via Linux... Economically it makes sense to keep these WORKHORSE computers that aren't "blessed" with the "right" cpu or graphics to keep a bloated GUI running... and Linux is STELLAR in doing exactly this.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
