I have used H&R software for about 9 years with no difficulties. This year I had an outcome I knew was incorrect and called into help/tech services. They suggested I do the same as I was already doing -rechecking data entries, etc. I sub in 5 school districts. I usually owe ~100 or the Feds owe me ~100 - it is always very close. This was coming out with me owing almost 800 on my Federal which is why I called. I asked if it could be a software glitch. He said none reported. I asked should I start over. Rep said I should not have to but when I did it self corrected to my normal and I successfully filed both federal and state.
I would recommend this to a friend!

You need to review the items that keep a customer from e-filing. I use tax software for its knowledge but also to have it complete end to end. In particular State tax along with the federal tax. I have been a long time tax cut customer. Considering turbo tax to see if it can do better on filing.

Most of the tax entry process was quite easy with the import options. However the import option was not available for one major investment services, and I had to enter all the transactions manually.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

I have been using H&R Block tax software for at least the past 45 years. I find it very easy to navigate around in and very simple to use. I gave Turbo Tax a quick thought but never did use it. As long as I’m doing taxes, H&R Block is definitely my go to software.
