I've used H&R Block (with state) for 20 years. The results are solid - I review the completed forms - and the price is always reasonable. It helps to download complex 1099s automatically and have everything fill into the right slots. The internal reviews have saved me from making some stupid errors.
Software like this is especially useful as my income changes over time. Nice to see where SSA income and other new streams should be handled by having it ask me and then spitting out the correct forms. Also useful in strategizing decisions for next year.

I’ve been using Turbo Tax for years. But, my home computer is W10. Switched to H&R this year. Was OK until Schedule C Misc. I have Royalties from a recording, and the program made it difficult. Finally, just used “Misc Income”…

I have used H&R Block Deluxe tax software for many years now and find it quite helpful and accurate. I have always gotten my tax returns processed by the IRS very quickly with this software and have had no issues.
My one issue this year was with the Colorado State Tax software. As I use the standard deduction, I am supposed to be able to claim at least part of my charitable donations on my state taxes. Although the software allowed me to enter this deduction, it did not reduce my taxes at all. I don't believe that this is the way that it is supposed to work.

This is the most non-user friendly software I have ever used. After filing I had to pay a tax professional to amend my return, could not navigate through the HR block program
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
