I feel a bit trapped, as I've used this software for years, so the easiest thing is to keep getting it every year. But it hasn't gotten any better or smarter or more user friendly over time, leaves a lot of questions unanswered, and is particularly weak on state returns. Frustrating, but like I said, I'm stuck with it.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H & R Block tax software for more than 10 years. The only area I find that the explanation is vague is on RMD when the taxpayer knows the required amount has been taken in the appropriate time frame - no excess distribution and no put back out of the time frame. I think there should be a query: “ did you take the RMD in the allotted time frame?” Yes No
