In general, program was good and did the job and I have been a satisfied customer for many years.
The interview questions for HSA funding - especially for those 55+ funding two HSA accounts - was not as clear as they could have been. Specifically, you are asked for the split the allowed HSA funds for the year between your two HSAs. However, if you are over 55 years old, you can fund an additional $1000 for each married taxpayer. The interview questions ignore that possibility, so I used trial-and-error to get to a point where everything worked. It did work, but it seems like the interview questions should be improved to avoid the trial-and-error troubleshooting.
It would also be advantageous and timesaving for the prior year return data import to also include investment account numbers. I suppose there may be a security concern with those, but the fresh return requires fresh account number entry. I would prefer those to be imported with the investment account names.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

I spent hours clearing the last page of the Federal form. The instructions on how to clear "questions" were non-existent. I purchased the state package just to be able to e-file to the state. I had done my state form manually which was quite straight forward and all I wanted to do was "plug" the data. The software prohibited plugging, turns out you have to figure out how to and where to enter data elements in the Federal side and then see what you get on the state side. My 1099 div's and 1099-int's were all downloaded from financial institution so HRB had all the same info that I had (which I used to compute state manually) so why couldn't HRB do the same?

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

I've been using the software for many year. It's Mostly good and reliable. Sometimes it's not easy to fix issues. It's also a pain that things like bank accounts and ID details are not carried forward year to year
