While my printed version of my return shows me as the Primary, the software changed the Primary to my wife. This prevents my State submission (on which I am the Primary) from being accepted by my State.

Fix the "Excess Accumulation" Default-checked Box!

The default checked box: "excess accumulation" for retirement income is incredibly confusing at best; at worst it can lead to thousands of dollars of income tax overpayment. The 1040 software should have a simple yes or no question to confirm that enough RMD was withdrawn. Instead, the questionnaire addressing "excess accumulation" is so badly worded that if the taxpayer mistakenly checks "Self" or "Spouse" instead of "Finished," a Form 5329 is generated and won't go away unless manually deleted. It is not advisable for your average user to delete forms. My husband attempted a workaround by inputting $0 for excess accumulation, and the software still produced nearly $8,000 in additional tax! We had to start from scratch with a whole new return. We shudder to think what a less sophisticated or sharp-eyed user might overpay in taxes. And how would they benefit from HR Block's accuracy guarantee? The IRS is not going to tell them about a mistake made in the IRS' favor!

I have used h&r block exclusively for nearly 20 years but this year was the worst with forms updates. I had to wait nearly a month to be able to file and if I had switched to another software I could of filed 2 weeks earlier

I e-filed both my federal and state taxes. Within a day I received notice that my federal return was accepted and the state rejected. I went back to app and there is no reason way the state return was rejected. There was also no apparent way to correct it. Need help

I have use HR for quite a while. I did a backdoor ROTH conversion and I could not figure out how to make it work and be accurate. I even tried asking several AI programs. It always took a deduction for the Traditional IRA contribution. I plan to send in a paper 8606 which I shouldn't have to do for for what seems like a pretty easy set of actions.
