I have used H&R Block for several years. It is accurate and reasonably easy to use but has two notable shortcomings. First, I always use the standard vehicle mileage calculation for my vehicle's business use. Every year I have to perform several gymnastics to use this instead of entering depreciation, tax costs, etc. I have to edit directly in the form and ignore several warnings to use what I know is the right approach. I am also unable to electronically submit my Colorado taxes, because my spouse is an early childhood educator. Though the software recognizes the tax credit I still go to the department of revenue site to reenter my Colorado return online.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great software, which didn't handle Win transition

The software does its job, but I do have one major challenge. As Windows 10 was discontinued, I was forced to move to Windows 11. All my records from prior years of H&R Block Deluxe software going back more than six years were gone, gone, gone. I had even paid extra for download service, not usable to get the information. I am not certain why the IRS sent me a letter requiring me to reconfirm my return, even though I filed on the first day, Jan. 26, 2026. I didn't get a refund until March 4.
