The H&R Block Software works well for my tax situation. Last year, I had a more complex tax return. I first did my taxes using the H&R Software, but just to make sure that I had entered everything correctly, I also hired a tax professional to do my taxes. When I got the tax professional’s results back the taxes owed didn’t quite match with the H&R Software’s results. Comparing the two returns, I discovered the the tax professional had deducted my wife’s State Teachers’ Retirement. The H&R Software had clearly explained that my wife’s retirement payments were not deductible due to conditions spelled out in the “Bailey Settlement”. When I showed the tax preparer his error, he reluctantly refunded the money that I had paid him. I guess I can trust the H&R Software more than a professional Tax Preparer! That’s the greatest compliment that I can give for the H&R Software.

After importing from investment company we kept gettin that there were errors. Checked all exclamation points. We fixed all that the software flagged as errors. It took many, many tries before we could get them accepted. It was LCL Financial. In the past we haven't had any problems. Why wouldn't import in the correct format?
Cons: Time consuming

The past two years the software has been more difficult to use; for example entering wash sales- not enough data requested to get the correct gain loss. Large banks such as JP Morgan Securites aren’t listed to download 1099 B. This leads to time consuming entries and possible errors.
