I've been using TaxCut software (same product) since day 1, which I think was 1989. It's gotten consistently better and 2025's version is the best so far.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Have been using H&R software for many, many years. It has saved me much filing time, is easy to use and also informative. However, this year it let me down greatly. The reason being it no longer supports input from Merrill. I had over 300 transactions I had to input manually, which leads to errors and many hours of time. So, if that situation does not change for the 2026 filing period, I will have to look elsewhere. If not for that negative for me, I would have rated it 5 Stars.

The software is fairly good, but when I submitted my final Fed and State returns, normally, I did not receive an email that the returns were received. The fee for the state return was in my credit card account. After several days, I went into the software and saw that the returns were not submitted. There was also a message saying that I needed to update the software version before submitting! So I resubmitted the Federal return but hesitated about the state since I had already paid the fee. Finally the credit card charge was removed and I resubmitted the state return. This is NOT acceptable. If there is an update or other errors, you need to notify users. Otherwise, they will think their returns are submitted and they would be fined for late submissions later in the year. You need to fix this kind of problem. It sounds like I got caught up in the middle of a software update issue. FIX THIS for other people.

I bought Deluxe+State but no free state was included. I was able to file the Federal return but not the State, as advertised. Instead, I was prompted to purchase a State. I will never buy this product again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
