I was kind of skeptical when I first saw this product, I was definitely wrong. Besides The coolness factor this light is very handy. Greasy hands, you don't have to dirty up your light and forehead. Hands full, no need to set stuff down. Want too easily change the lighting, just ask it. The voice control recognizes the commands easily even when I ask quietly. The colored lights are bright enough to see but are still stealthy. I've used it quite a bit and haven't had to recharge it yet so I can't say what the run time is. The spot and flood are nice and bright. The head band is well designed with a sleeve for the wire to run through. A lot packed into a nicely sized headlamp.

Excellent headlamp

I’ve been using this headlamp for about a month now and have been loving it. As a rancher there are many times your hands are dirty and you constantly turning your headlamp on or off with your hands means your face getting dirty. With the voice activation this problem was solved. Also love the fact you can send it straight to the red light instead of having to flip through other colors before reaching red. This will come in handy for photographers that develop their own film and require a red light and also in outdoor situations with animals you don’t want to spook with white light. And of course when you’re out at night with others and don’t want to blind them when y’all are talking. The back light is a nice touch making this really great for anything where you want to be seen. From morning walks to working on a vehicle on the side of the road at night; that red light makes you visible to others behind you. Which could save your life. The light is super bright and can last me about a week without charging depending on what I do that week. The only thing I would like to see added to this would be a strap that goes across the top of your head to keep the headlamp from sliding down in instances when you jump down as was done with the WPH34R (which I love and highly recommend as well). I have not experience much slippage with this light but because I’m mindful to not really jolt it. Overall this is an amazing light at a great price and I plan on buying more. The additional head strap would be a nice improvement though!

When I first read about this headlamp, I thought why would I need voice activated? There are some occasions when my hand are full. But my true delight is that it is just plain fun. More fun than I could ever imagine a headlamp would be. I can tell it to turn on or to be brighter or less bright or just show the ark or red light or green light or blue light. I can even turn on rear lights. I’m having so much fun showing this off and telling my Coast headlamp what to do. You can do that to many people or things and get away with it. Coast Off!

The voice command is beneficial for people wearing gloves while working. Most lights have tiny buttons which cannot be turned on without a bare finger tip. The ability to put the battery on a belt gives added space in confined areas.

Finally everything I ever wanted in a Headlamp

I wanted to give this headlamp a true workout before reviewing it and I am happy to report this is the best most useful headlamp ever. I have owned countless headlamps from cheap to expensive. I found Coast headlamps have been the best. They have continued to evolve and I have owned many I always found the next generation better than the last but they were never perfect. I would always want a little more brightness but then the battery life would be limited or the focus and brightness would be difficult to adjust. Then my wishes were granted the new RL35R is a dream come true I couldn't even imagine a headlamp like this. It has all the functions you will ever want spot, flood, colored lights red and blue and an amazing close light they call arc for close work. I use it for sewing and close up hands work. In addition there is a safety light in the back that holds the rechargeable battery. That's right rechargeable and it has plenty of power to keep your light going for hours you can even give your phone a boost in an emergency. I take this light on the job, camping, boating on my kayak oh yea its water resistant and if you bike at dusk it may save your life with the flashing rear light. All these features make this hands down best headlamp available. But wait there is more the mind blowing voice activation and its not just a gimmick it really works and its brilliant. For about a week I was just going around talking to my headlamp it works flawless I cant tell you what a time saver this is. There is no wasted time fiddling around with the controls or changing the battery's its just seamless. Need a little just say Coast spot need it brighter just say it and it does it so handy.

One of the coolest things I have ever bought. Being able to adjust the light without touching it is great. I often work in dirty, sticky situations and keeping my light clean has always been a problem. No more this light is great.

I bought this lamp for work, after the store closes they turn a lot of the overhead lights off, and stocking product. using the voice activation really comes in handy since my hands are full. "coast flood on" is the most used phrase I use. the versatility of this light is awesome!!!
