RL35RVoice Activated Head Lamp

Got this light about 2 weeks ago and have been using it pretty steady. I was a little worried at first on the voice control, man was I wrong. Every command that I gave the light, no matter what tone i used, it changed. Being able to change the brightness while your hands are full is a great feature. Tried the Red, Blue & Green lights the past weekend while setting trail cameras, The Blue & Green colors are plenty bright to see where you going at night. The Red was not as bright as the other 2 colors at night. As with my other coast products, the lifetime warranty is a great thing! Having USB C rechargeable is great as well. I would definitely

Awesome headlamp

I’m not the biggest fan of voice control products but this is one that completely makes sense. I can’t count how many times I’ve been using a headlamp and either have something in my hands or my hands are dirty when I need to turn a headlamp on or off or make it brighter . After using this headlamp, I can’t believe it hasn’t been done sooner. Using the voice control works and it works flawlessly every time, I was very skeptical it was gonna be gimmicky. It allows full control of all the headlamp functions. If you’re using this headlamp when walking or running, it also has a red light that also flashes on the back of the band. Awesome headlamp with voice control that actually works!

Great hands free head lamp

I own several headlamps, XPH35R and XPH25R. Both are great work lights. This one intrigued me since it is voice activated and didn’t know how well it would do. I was impressed. I work in the construction industry and put this light to the test. I like the different light outputs. You do have to learn the commands that start with “coast” such as “coast on” or “coast off”. It did have difficulty understanding the commands in a noisy environment where I had to wear earplugs. I had to move in a quieter environment and the commands were properly. Overall, it a great, tough light.

Game changer

The RL35R is the perfect light, Working in the automotive industry there are many times hands free is convenient but voice activated is a total game changer!
I have put this light to the test for the past 6 days and have to say it has exceeded my expectations.
The multiple light functions all have their purpose.
Voice activation works flawlessly even in high noise areas. Especially when I am using my meter in low light conditions and can verbally turn on and off light without having to stop my testing.
Battery life is better then expected with included charge cord and extension cord for battery box to relocate battery to your belt if you don’t want the added weight on the headband. Coast makes quality products I own many and they are my go to for lights!

I am truly excited about this headlamp and the coolest feature of anything on the market that is voice control along with the rear safety lamp and the silicone lined strap with the ability to use as a power bank the complete lineup of colors red, green, and blue along with the arc feature which is awesome and to be able to use them all while your hands are doing other things is a game changer and of course I am always impressed with the quality of Coast products in general and the light produced is second to none for the price point and the lifetime warranty you can't go wrong with Coast products and i will continue to use them and recommend them to anyone. As a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in lighting technology, particularly with diodes and LEDs, I had the opportunity to field test the Coast RL35R Headlamp. This voice-controlled headlamp boasts a range of lighting modes, and my one-week trial yielded a notably positive experience. Coast ask me for an honest review which you may find below. Always keep in mind what your own needs are for any light. This definitely is well worth your consideration.
Pros
- Ease of Use: The headlamp is user-friendly and intuitive.
- Responsive Voice Controls: Commands are recognized and executed swiftly, akin to a smartphone's personal assistant. Even with an accent the lamp had no issues responding to commands.

I found the voice controls exceptionally convenient for activities like mountain biking, hiking, hunting, and even for mechanical tasks such as inspecting my truck's engine bay (sorry about all the dirt). For those familiar with Coast's line of products, this headlamp maintains the brand's signature flood and spot beams, ensuring consistency across their range.
While the headlamp excels in close to medium-range illumination, providing ample light in various settings, it may not always meet the needs for long-distance lighting. Nevertheless, Coast products are synonymous with high-quality construction, reliability, and convenience. The added benefit of being able to charge the headlamp in your car or at home, just like a cellphone, using the portable power pack, is a testament to its user-centric design.

First of all the good/great: obviously the huge thing that sets this light apart is the voice control and it works amazingly. On a recent 4x4 camping trip my
girlfriend, her son, and myself all tried the different voice commands from a strong command all the way down to a light whisper and it always worked. Keep in mind, my girlfriend has a pretty strong French accent and we thought for sure some of the commands would fail but it got it right every time.
Ok the light. The light has a crazy amount of options and once I got a good sense of them, I actually started realizing specific situations where you may need to switch modes for a few seconds and then switch back. The voice command makes switching back and forth between modes so easy that you get used to it quick. The one unique mode on this light that's not on any other lights I own is the arc mode. As a general area light that doesn't blind the $#@+ out of your fellow campers if you happen to glance over, it is truly amazing. I love the arc mode.
Ok a couple of future improvements we can hope for: The most annoying thing that needs to change is the lighted voice activation button. It's on the underside of the light and stays lit so it throws this very slight green glow into your eyes that distracts you in low light situations. With arc, flood, spot, no issue but with red and blue you notice it. But... where it really creates a problem is when you want it off and are trying to see at night. I know, lol, but let me give you an example. We're walking across the meadow just after sunset to check out the stars. The light from the sky is perfect for seeing the trail so we all have our lights off but my light has this annoying indicator lamp just above my eyes. We're all around the campfire and are wearing our headlights because we get up occasionally to go get a drink, bathroom, etc. but at the fire our lights are not illuminated but... there's that annoying green glow in my eyes again. So COAST, on your next rendition, put the indicator light on the side, top, or eliminate it. The button itself is in a good convenient location.
Other than that, the light is a little bulky/heavy. The separate battery with the relocation extension cord helps with this but I think this light can be significantly streamlined.
Overall: if someone said you have to pick one light and one light only to have for every situation and no other options, I without hesitation would choose this light.

Never knew I needed a voice activated light!

I got this headlamp a couple weeks ago and have been using it at work, and honestly I never thought a voice activated light was something I would ever need. It almost sounded gimmicky at first, but after using it a bit I found out just how handy it is! I am a field mechanic for construction equipment so my hands are constantly full of oil and dirt and not having to reach up and turn my headlamp on and off and smear it full of dirt has been awesome. The voice commands do respond pretty well even in noisy environments, just make sure you annunciate what command you are giving, don't try to mumble it. Lots of light modes to choose from, not sure when I would need the blue and green, but the flood and spot versions of red and white give you lots of flexibility. Overall, I am very happy with this light, I would highly recommend it to anyone that works with their hands and doesn't always have a free one to switch on a light.
