All the bells and whistles

This new headlamp has it all. Every color of light you can possibly need. And.. they are ALL brightness adjustable. Plenty bright. The area light is a nice new feature as it luminates the area without having your typical bullseyes. The red light is an area light as well, which is a lot nicer than the usual tiny LED. The red light being adjustable is nice.
The buttons are very easy to find and push. Battery life is obviously great with the large rear battery (which you can use included extension cord and put in your pocket if you want).

The voice control is intriguing. You can control all aspects of the light (colors and brightness) (except the rear battery light). However, being an offline assistant, you can't teach it your voice, and anybody within range can change your light. The voice assistant is optional and can be disabled. I wish the rear battery was an optional life extension, but you can't have everything?

The Swiss army knife of headlamps!

As an owner of several headlamps, it was a pleasure to have many features all in the one RL35R headlamp. With several colors, variable focus, low to high settings, and options like the wide angle red/white light, this headlamp performed well in many different situations. And to top it all off, all options were available by voice control, from a whisper to regular voice. This was very convenient in many ways including when leading kayak trips after dark, allowing use of all lamp options without touching the headlamp with wet salty hands.
This headlamp is the first one I've used with the battery pack on the back and I was concerned with the weight on the back. After properly adjusting the band, it turns out that it was barely noticeable. I did find that the wide angle or 'arc' light, due to its slightly wrap-around lens design, was a bit distracting, shining down into my eyes and affecting night vision. And, while not a huge deal, the rear red light is not quite as bright as I'd like for bicycling when worried about vehicles approaching from the rear at high speeds. Overall, this is a fantastic headlamp and has all the other features that Coast does so well!

You have to get a RL35R

I just recently returned from a 6 week camping trip to the Grand Canyon and my RL35R was waiting for me when I returned home. Once I unpacked, I fully charged the battery to make sure the device was ready for testing. I then tested out all of the voice commands, they all worked. The voice control of the headlamp gives users an amazing hands-free environment when transitioning to and from a “low-light”/”no-light” setting, which is important if you are carrying tools or heavy equipment. The choice of white, blue, green and red lights, combined with the intensity settings, allow you to see better no matter where you are or what you are doing, all done hands-free. I alo like the “traffic lights* on the back of the detachable battery pack, which allow people behind you to see that you are there. My dog takes me for a walk on roads with little or no lighting, that is used by people in golf carts, electric bikes without no lights.
I also checked out the manual controls they worked, still prefer voice control. The lamp has a good runtime, the battery will charge quickly, if you have a decent USB adapter. Users do need to be aware that the voice control will respond to other people and/or TV/radio stations.
The RL35R needs to be on your list of “I got to have at least one of these!”

Talk yourself into it!

I took this to my fire station. We all liked the voice commands. Several of my fellow firefighters want one after trying it out. I put it on my helmet and it worked just fine. It picks up a normal voice, no yelling necessary. I was skeptical at first, but we all quickly saw the value of hands-free operation. Once you experience the convenience, you won't want to do without it.

the best head light

this is the 3rd headlight I've bought and it is by far the best one yet its bright rechargeable and the voice control works flawless way Beter than I expected being able to change brightness threw the voice command is the best I am a maintenance mechanic and I use this light on a daily bases. I definitely recommend this light if you are thinking about buying it do it you wont be disappointed.

Great headlamp

This headlamp is such a good addition to my arsenal of coast products! The voice activation works great. Built to last and comfortable on your head. The head band has two thin runner grip stops on inside of band so it really stays in place. Long battery life. On back is the battery pack with red safety features and the front light has so much to offer with all the lighting modes just say what light mode you want and it does it. High beam is very bright. You have red, blue and green lightning. White light has High,medium, low, flood light, spot light, arch lighting features has white and red color lighting Arch lighting is like lantern lighting on your head it’s great. Also you can dim or brighten the lighting in any of the many modes.
Just say what you want it to do and it does it. I tested this product out extensively and it is solid and high quality. Very easy to use. Also has battery life indicator. This headlamp is great. I have five other coast headlamps and none of them ever let me down. I’m very pleased to have this new voice activated headlamp as part of my collection. I was going to add pictures but the coast website does a great job at showing you the headlamp in action. Check this headlamp out and buy one you will love it. I sure do!!
