My New EDC Headlamp

The RL35R is a VERY thoughtfully designed headlamp
It has all the features that I have come to expect from a COAST Product
Floodlight, Spotlight, Red Blue and Green lights
However this headlamp takes things three steps further
1. The rear battery pack safety light is perfect for walking, bicycling safety etc.
2. The ARC light feature offers an ideal low glare even lighting for working on Electronics and Cabling projects in dimly lit server rooms, dark cabinets, and wiring closets
3. The Voice Control feature is a game changer for me.
It allows me to change the lighting modes on the fly while having both my hands free
It has all the features that I have come to expect from a COAST Product

best light ever

this light is just fantastic. i used to work in my attic air conditioning unit. starting with flood and then spot the light was perfect. keeping your hands free while holding other tools is a dream. and the 1100 lumen output is way more than enough. the recharging is simple and efficient. i can't think of anything to improve it. i can see it on safety helmets with flashing red lights all over the construction site.

When I received this, I thought for sure I would find some things that can do to improve. I am a contractor and use headlamps constantly and I have never had a headlamp that works better than this, in all circumstances. My crew used this as well, as we were testing them out. We even tried "funny voices" and muffled voices to see if we could "trick" the unit, and it still worked. They provide a charger that is also USB A to C and C to C. Extension cable for battery unit. The battery life is pretty incredible, and its so nice to not have to switch through 900 functions to get to the one you want, you can go from a spot that might be too bright inside a shiny electrical panel, and you can just announce "flood" or "arc" to get a more even ambient light. The back of the unit has low power red led so that people can also see you from behind adding a safety feature to the unit. It is much smaller than anticipated as well, which is great. The battery can be charged independently as well, so you can just open the battery compartment (easy to open) and swap batteries in the rare even you actually kill the battery in a work day. So one battery is charging and you are rockin with a fresh one. Really, I have shown this to many people, and it is a pretty outstanding product.

Great headlamp!

Love this headlamp! I'm part of a scout troop that goes camping monthly rain or shine and depend on my headlamp when we're out hiking in the woods. Initially, I wasn't sure of the voice control but found it super helpful when my hands were full and I could change to a red light to keep from blinding my fellow scouts if I was facing them. I like the different color options as well as being able to easily change how bright the lamp is. The lamp is super bright when you need it or you can turn it down or off quickly. I own a few Coast headlamps but this one is really above and beyond the others. Thanks for a great headlamp Coast!

Bad as super cool

Really cool and functional headlamp. Lights up the woods in the dark. Great for working on vehicles. The voice activated hands free feature lets you get things done faster. Especially if both your hands are busy. The arc light feature I thought at first, "why"? Well it's great, that's why. Softer light that is great for in a tent. 360* lighting. I still haven't explored the many features of this fully. So far it's beyond what I expected reading about it. I will update this review in a few months after hard use. The 3 weeks ve had it, I'm impressed. Coast On!

Extremely hands-free!!!!

The voice control technology is great for "extremely" hands-free operation per se... The only time you will even have to touch it is putting it on, pushing one button, and taking it off, and the full range of lighting options are phenomenal they work very very well and the voice control is simple and easy to use.

Had this headlamp for two weeks and I am thoroughly impressed by it. This unit is made of high quality materials with multiple light colors and brightness. Great for hands free use and with voice control it does exactly what you tell it to do. Rechargeable battery included

All the bells and whistles

This new headlamp has it all. Every color of light you can possibly need. And.. they are ALL brightness adjustable. Plenty bright. The area light is a nice new feature as it luminates the area without having your typical bullseyes. The red light is an area light as well, which is a lot nicer than the usual tiny LED. The red light being adjustable is nice.
The buttons are very easy to find and push. Battery life is obviously great with the large rear battery (which you can use included extension cord and put in your pocket if you want).

The voice control is intriguing. You can control all aspects of the light (colors and brightness) (except the rear battery light). However, being an offline assistant, you can't teach it your voice, and anybody within range can change your light. The voice assistant is optional and can be disabled. I wish the rear battery was an optional life extension, but you can't have everything?
