Hands Free Brilliance

The RL35R voice-activated flashlight is awesome! Its super convenient to use hands-free, which is great when you're juggling tasks or in a pitch. As an Inspector, the voice control feature is extremely useful when carrying 50lb-60lbs items in both hands. The brightness is also perfect, and you can easily switch settings by voice or using the physical buttons. The rechargeable battery lasts a very long time, so you can count on it anywhere. All in all, I highly recommend it to anyone who is a professional or a do-it-yourselfer to get things done. The red rear light also provides peace of mind knowing that I can be seen when I am working in poorly lit areas.

New level of convenience--great headlamp

Another well built headlamp from Coast. Lots of light and several really handy features. I thought the voice activation might be a gimmick, but I was wrong. Being able to change light intensities while both hands are busy is very useful. When I work on a machine after dark, It is handy to have a good headlamp. With this one I can see everything in bright light or use the voice feature to dim the beam if I'm trying to read a label. The spot/flood feature is great when hiking. This is my new favorite headlamp. Lots of features controlled by voice command--the 21st century headlamp

Disclaimer, I received this light from coast to field test it for free.
That being said, the voice control feature is an unique option that seemed unnecessary. However once you have it you will realize it is much of the opposite. When you think of headlights uses, you realize it's a hands free light. Having this feature allows you to adjust the light as needed when you're in the middle of working on a project or job.
Things I like about this light are, ease of use, versatility of the modes, interchangeable batteries(18650), durability and longevity. The red beam is great for reading in the dark. The arc is great for up close work with some minor nuisances. The battery pack has a back light with flashing and solid modes that help with safety along with the reflective strap. The voice control button has a green led illuminating that it is on. If left on for hours without use it does time out (don't know exact time for that) which does help with accidental parasitic loss of charge.
What I dislike about it was the led temperature on the spot beam and flood light. It was a little to cool for my liking, however the arc makes up for that with a warmer temperature light. My biggest con that may be more of a personal preference is the headlight adjustment. I always feel like when I was using it that it needed to be between a setting for up and down to stay in my line of sight. The arc light I feel would have been better as a full rectangle or atleast on the bottom part of the light instead of "n" shaped horse shoe. Lastly the battery pack was a bit uncomfortable on the back of the head but that may be personal preference.
Overall it's a well rounded light and I feel that if I had to buy this light myself i would. It's packed with features at a reasonable price compared to competitors, and a swappable battery means no downtime if you have backups.

Works better than I was expecting and is pretty useful. All the voice controls worked perfectly. Long battery life. Comfortable to wear. I like the manual brightness dial to get the perfect lighting while I was at work. At home going in and out of the house at night I just keep the voice control active to turn off and on. I would like the voice features on a smaller headlamp like the XPH30R or the new WPH30R and with work & area lights like the CL40R.

I've been very surprised on how well the voice control works. My voice has had issues with other voice controlled items and this works everytime right out the box. Found it great for mixing and applying herbicides/ chemicals. The light is great and bright as to be expected from Coast, really like the arc and different modes. If you need to be hand free buy this!

It listens!

I really appreciate that the RL35R headlamp really listens to my commands. Even at a whisper, it’s always listening. The wide variety of options for light color, and beam width really do speak to how well this thing was thought out. I’m a truck driver. I use it to see in my cab, and while doing my walk around inspections. It works great!

Excellent Light

I received this last week and I really love it! The voice activation feature took a little getting used to. I kind of feel like a goof when I use it. But it is a very good feature of this light. It makes controlling the light very easy and without getting your light dirty or greasy. I am an aircraft mechanic and having a light source that I can control without touching it with dirty hands is absolutely a positive feature,
The brightness is outstanding, and it is very comfortable to wear for extended time.
I will definitely be recommending this to my friends!

The best in hands free

After using this product for about a month, I can say it is my go to headlamp. Working as a mechanic on heavy equipment, I use a lot of different work lights. When it comes time for more confined areas, intricate work while sitting on a stool, and for work that is deeper to reach, this product works perfect. When i have to get up and down from being under equipment i usually leave my work lights on which of course runs batteries down quicker and the need to swap lights out often. With this headlamp, i easily say "Coast On" "Coast Off" as i get up and down. There is a great variety of light modes that can be adjusted to the perfect brightness. I use every light mode for work other than the color options. With the color options, they came in handy while camping. The voice control also proved itself useful when hanging the headlamp from the roof of the tent while getting ready for bed. After all my uses, work and play, I never ran the batteries to dead. Not once. If you are considering a headlamp, I can honestly say after using different brands and styles, this is the best.
