not as good as before

I grew up using the Dobie sponge. My mom used them for as long as I can remember. I started using them as soon as I got my own place and have used them ever since. I have noticed the outside mesh isn't holding up as good as it used to. Like others have said you can only get a few days out of it before it starts to get a hole and then it falls apart quickly. I'm so sad since I feel there isn't anything else out there that works the same. I continue to purchase them, more often now, but am so frustrated with the quality. Please fix my faithful Dobie so it's back to it's usual state.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Couldn't live without them!!

I use the Dobie Cleaning pads for everything from washing the dishes and scrubbing the stove to removing hairspray build up in my bathroom to soap scum and mildew on the tubs. They never scratch the surfaces of my appliances but they still remove the tougher stuck on grime. The Dobie cleaning pads are high quality, low cost and last for a long time. I throw them in the washing machine and keep using them. I have even found my husband uses them in the garage, he said they work so well on removing the grit from his hands without hurting his skin. We love the Dobie Cleaning pads and will never stop using them.

I agree with the comments by 'ABusyMom', from four years ago. The mesh on these sponges falls apart a bit too easily. In our family of seven, a sponge--our primary dish-washing tool--only lasts two weeks, at most. (Granted, that's a large family, and a lot of use, but the sponges used to last longer.) I suggest considering modifying the design or manufacturing process to enhance the durability.

A Little Disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a loyal user of this product for about 20 years. It seems that for about the past year or so the quality of the Dobie cleaning pad has taken a nose dive. My primary use is for dishes, I have been using the same dish soap all this time and previously the pad would last a couple of months. Now I go through on average a 2 pack box a month! 2 pads a month,the pad just falls apart. The mesh that covers the pad rips a lot more now than before. The pad lasted longer years ago when I was married with 2 small children and had dishes non-stop. Now with 2 people and not as many dishes the pad is a disappointment.
Have you changed the way it's made or the quality of what's used to make the pad?
I hope that the quality of the pad improves because I haven't been able to find another product that equals Dobie pads.

There is No Substitute.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is great for washing up the dishes and pots & pans that do not fit into the dishwasher. The only thing is, he leaves them 'til the next morning! Because he wakes VERY EARLY, he needs something to do. He could not engage in this habit without Dobie! Dobie removes dried on food particles easily, whether from the dishes or cookware. And it it safe for just about any surface. (Which is why the Dobie gets used on the granite counter tops, sometimes, too!) My husband always buys the Dobie two at a time. It is a frustrating day when we shop and find only "generic" all-purpose cleaning pads. We leave that store and find another. Thank you for a great product.

This product was recommended by a new cookware co. I think it is over priced for the performance. The Dobbie sponge does not get in all the little crevises due to it's stiffness. However it did not scratch so , I give it a middle of the road rating..

What has happened to the dobie pad

I have used these all my life. In the last year, it seems like the quality has gone down. They rip so easily now. I feel like I am going to have to switch to something else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
