Dobie --the proverbial "BE ALL and END ALL"

I am 51 and can't remember a moment in my life when a Dobie pad was not at my mother's kitchen sink. Henceforth I have always used Dobie pads and can't imagine life without them. Great product.

Sobie not lasting more than a couple day!

Just read other reviews with the same problem. We used to use a Dobie for a week or so, now they don't last more than a day or two. Very frustrating. Plastic coating just comes apart. Ready to find something else, but we would prefer for you to just make the Dobie last longer like it used to.

What has happened!!??

I've purchased these pads for so many years I can't count. My guess would be somewhere close to 15 years. Some time ago the store where I shop couldn't keep them in stock. When I managed to get there as they restocked I bought the entire case. That said, I've been using that stock for quite some time. Having recently run out I purchased another two pads. I thought I had gotten a bad batch because the mesh fell apart after just a couple of uses. Bought more from a different store the other day....same thing....mesh fell apart. It should be noted that I am not using the Dobies any differently than I have for so many years.
Scotch Brite....what have you done to the one and only sponge I've used for so many years? Now I need to find something else.

I have been buying the Dobi cleaning pad for many years. I will not buy anything else. It meets all my needs for multi-purpose cleaning!

Very disappointed in the mesh covering.

I've been using Dobies for decades. My sister and I would do the dishes together, and we referred to the Dobie as "The Captain" (Starsky & Hutch's boss from the mid-1970s series was Captain Dobey). This is a silly thing to remember, but it tells you how long I've been using and purchasing your product.
But what the heck? The mesh covering only lasts about a week now, rather than about three weeks like they used to. No, I don't microwave them or put them in the dishwasher, and they are not getting unusual wear-and-tear. The problem seems to be with all of them in the last year or two, not every once in a while. I buy them all at Target, so I'm assuming I'm not getting some sort of knock-off product, unless there's a supply-decision sourcing problem on your end.
I'm super unhappy regarding their declining quality.
I think Dobie's and I are breaking up.

Looking for cause of accelerated wear

I am trying to figure out how to increase the life of my pads. I've attached a picture of a pad that is around a week old. I don't believe it has been abused in any way (scrubbing knives, snagging on sharp edges, etc.). However I have used a soft scrubbing product called Bar Keeper's Friend twice with this pad. The pad seems to be unaffected by this product immediately after use. But I am wondering if there is a connection nonetheless.
Could this be the result of a chemical reaction with that product?
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been a loyal user of Dobie pads for over 30 years. The ones I have purchased in the last few months have fallen apart after a week or two, and not after heavy use. The outside mesh is no longer durable. I will be looking for another product. Such a shame.

Quality has gone downhill

A brand new pad out of the box developed a large hole on first use! Was not using any harsh cleansers. Plus, I noticed that the plastic net covering disintegrates into tiny little particles, which end up in the water supply. Used to be a good product but no more!
