I have been using the Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge for probably 20 plus years and had always been satisfied with it, until 2016, when it appears that the quality has gone down. It used to be a thicker sponge that would keep it shape a long time. It is now much more thin and the material is not as stiff as in the past.
It is really to bad when a product continues to sell for the same price, or more and it becomes cheaply made.

Rough side falls apart

I've used these for years. The last batch I bought was used for kitchen dishes and cleaning the kitchen counters and stoves. The rough side fell apart so fast I was totally "TICKED OFFFFFF!!!! Never going to buy these again. Gotta find a substitute.

Bad- smelling sponges

I always buy your product and I was happy with them. But this time I am very disappointed with Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty scrub Sponges.
I bought one package of 6 sponges. The Kitchen's sponge is only for washing the dishes with a Palmolive or Dawn, and I usually change this every three weeks but the last package I had to replace it after less than a week, because the odor that it had after I washed was disgusting.
I had to washed it with clorox and after that the sponge started falling apart.

good sponge but toxic smelling chemical treatment

I bought 6 pack of these with 3 scour pads this winter. I have used these also in the past but do not remember the horrible chemical smell that these new sponges have. I loaded it up with dish detergent and it still smells something like bleach or disinfectant.In fact it is so strong that that chemical smell gets into the skin on my hands and I can smell it for a long time afterward. I don't know if these were over treated at the factory or if this is just the way they are made now but it is nasty and takes quite awhile to get rid of that odor. After being a fan of the quality of 3M products in the past I will move on to something else. Our grocery store offers some other brands that I have used in the past and they don't have these chemicals in them. It is too bad because otherwise I like the quality but not if it is the expense of exposing myself to such a bad chemical - makes me sneeze too.

I have used this product for years. I can tell they have changed their material, it does not last as long, this scrubing green tip is not the same material. It shreds up like the ones you buy at the dollar store. I will not buy these again until they go back to the quaility material they used to use.

Used these for years. Last batches, the ones with "recycled content" for the scrubbing surface wear out so fast one would believe they were made in China. Work well for the short duration.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What happened?

I bought these and don't they last as long as they used too. Also the green dye from scouring part bleeds into yellow sponge making it look like the sponge has mold. I like keeping sponge on sink but this makes me hid them when I have company.

These used to be great

I've bought these scrubbers for years. They were always perfect for removing dried, stuck-on food remnants.
Unfortunately, they either decided to save money by using a crappier scrubber material, or make more money by making them deteriorate so we would replace them more frequently. Or both.
The new material seems to soften in warmer water, so it doesn't work very well. It's so soft, that when you rub it with your fingers, it feels greasy.
The only reason that it is marginally better than the dollar store brands is because the scrubber and sponge parts don't peel apart. If China improves their adhesive, we can all use those, instead.
