What have you done to America's iconic sponge?

Why has Scotch Brite messed with the design of the yellow and green sponges that we love? They're not as thick, but larger in diameter. I find them difficult to hold and squeeze dry. I'm sure the change was motivated by money, but it's left me looking for a new sponge after a lifetime of sharing my kitchen with your product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Recent quality is worthless

On board with other reviewers, have used these sponge/scrub pads since forever, but the latest batch from BJ's is useless. What happened to the quality? I guess upper management is trying to cut costs by selling a way thinner and inferior product. 1 star is being very generous. VERY disappointed and will look elsewhere from this point forward.

Very Disappointed

I have been using these sponges for years with good results. That last 14 pack I purchase will be my last. The sponge starting falling apart after 2nd use. The sponge didn't hold it texture started to almost "fall apart". A sponge that use to last me two weeks was useless after three days. Time to find a new brand of sponge.

What's happened to this product??

I used to buy this product in the 21-item pack it was so good. These really WERE great sponges. Emphasis on WERE. In my recent 21-item package everyone of these sponges everyone of the sponges has disintegrated in 1-2 days of mild use. Something has changed in the fabrication process to result in an inferior product.

ScotchBrite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponges

This product seems to have changed over the last years. The sponge itself is much thinner, and now the green scrubbing section releases green powder all over after taking it from the package. It disintegrates and in some cases cannot be used for intentional purpose. Disappointing.

I came here trying to find out why the sponges I have been buying literally for decades have sudden changed. They now shred and rip way too easily and they good lord they stink badly. Use the sponge once, squeeze all the water you can out of it - it won't help. The very next time you go to use it it will make your hands and anything you are trying to wash reek of mildew. I can't use these anymore. Reading other reviews I see I am not the only one to notice something amiss in the last few months

Disappointed After Years of Purchase

I have used the Scotch-Brite heavy duty rectangular sponges for years. As others have noted, over the past 2 or so years, I have noticed a slight decline in the durability of the sponges as the price has increased. However, with my last two purchases , I have reached my limit. I can no longer find the rectangular sponges - only the curved shaped ones - and they are TERRIBLE! They do not rinse cleanly (always feeling greasy), the green scrubby pills like a cheap sweater after only a few uses, and it just is a ridiculously inferior product. I am taking my money elsewhere, I am sorry to say.

Its name is stronger than the product

I bought this because I needed something heavy duty to handle the mess after my family reunion. I cleaned 3 pots then...bam. It dawned on me that this sponge is horrible, my pots are still dirty and now my hand hurts. Terrible sponge from a good company.
